The group met in conjunction with the Redlands International Orchid Festival held in Homestead May 17 - 19th. The new society, Encyclia Enthusiasts, will establish an interactive Web Site to provide general information to the general public on specific Encyclia species and a Members Only Forum for the exchange of detailed culture information and breeding programs. Encyclia Enthusiasts President, Stewart Chipka of Naples FL, stated that the group plans to promote the understanding of this genus through educational displays and lectures at orchid shows throughout the country and hopes that the new group will increase the number of orchid hobbyists who grow and enjoy these plants. The first full meeting of the Encyclia Enthusiasts will be held in October in conjunction with the Houston Orchid Society Show and AOS Trustees Meeting. The group welcomes new members and corporate sponsors and is offering "Charter Member" status to all who pay dues before Jan. 1 2003.
